Paula Pink is a visual artist living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, she trained and worked as a graphic designer in London and holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from The New School in New York. Her work has appeared in national and international exhibitions, and is held in private collections worldwide.

Inspired by organic forms, emergent patterns, and the interconnectedness of all things, Pink explores the hidden vitality of nature and the interdependence of living systems through a process-based, material approach to alternative and experimental photography. Working with light, chemistry, and elemental forces, her images reveal delicate, often overlooked aspects of the natural world, reflecting themes of time, transience, transformation, the mystery of the known, and the beauty of unknowing. Her work invites viewers to contemplate nature’s wonder – and its fragility – as an essential part of our shared existence.

“I work in both the darkroom and in sunlight, within the boundary where shadow dissolves and illumination begins. For me, photography becomes less a means of recording the world than a way of entering a relationship with it. Working across alternative, analog, and experimental photographic printmaking as an inquiry into the encounter between light, chemistry, matter, and time, the resulting images do not attempt to explain the natural world or stand apart from it; instead, they emerge from the same elemental exchanges they invite us to contemplate”.
